I recently went to the magical utopia called Iceland. While there are many things worth mentioning, suffice to say it is a land full of haunting stark beauty and lovely human beings.
This is a video I shot on ye olde iPhone SD while dreaming out the window of our whale watching boat on the way back into harbor at sunset. It was a beautiful cold afternoon of bracing fresh air, ever changing expansive skies, distant volcanoes and rainbows (but sadly no whales). Our amazing day on the water ended with an evening concert at the National Theater for night 3 of the Iceland Airwaves festival. It was truly the most amazing sound experience of my entire life and while all the artists were wonderful, I absolutely fell in love with composer Ólafur Arnalds.
While editing the thousands and thousands of photos from my trip, I have been playing his re:memer album on constant repeat. So, low and behold when I did nothing other than throw his amazing composition over my silly video in iMovie, magical zen was born. I did no editing to my footage other than to slightly slow the pace to match the length of the entire song.
I hope you all enjoy this peaceful video of zen during the hustle and bustle of the 2018 holidays. It’s been an intense year all around so I am eternally grateful for the short experience of this country of northern magic.
Peace, love and a little magic from me to all of you this holiday season!
